A Tag and a Booklet

Hello peeps! How are you this fine day? I haven't been feeling that great the past week and a half... got some kind of bug. Last Saturday I went to an all day crop that I had signed up for. Well... it was either that or lose my $20. I went with high hopes of making 30 cards but that was an epic fail! I think this bug has gobbled up my mojo. On the bright side I made 3 new friends, one of whom also makes cards for Operation Write Home. There was a lot of socializing and eating. A light breakfast, catered lunch, and catered dinner was included in my $20 fee. I know... right... you just can't beat that!

We all did 2 Make and Takes, and that's what I'm showing you today. Diane Dezso, owner of Paper Crazy, always comes up with such adorable vintage, shabby chic, projects. My projects came out looking blah, and the inks are muddy, but I don't worry too much when it's a Make 'n Take. My main goal is to get the basics down so I can recreate it at home.

This tag was fun to make, and all sparkly, but the photo doesn't do it justice.
The 1st step: cover a tag with 3-4 torn pieces of DSP.
The 2nd step: sponge Ranger's Distress Ink [Tattered Rose and Tea Dye] all over the tag but mine looks muddy!
The 3rd step: randomly stamp 3-4 images on the tag using black ink.
The 4th step: randomly drop several medium globs of Ranger's Distress Stickles, in Rock Candy, on the tag. Then, using my finger, spread the Stickles all over the tag. Kind of like finger painting.
The final step: add our embellishments. The double bow, the ticket, and the Rosette, or what's supposed to be a Rosette.

This booklet is made with one sheet of 12x12 double sided DSP that is cut in half. One piece is scored at 4 1/4" and creased for the outside pages. The other piece is scored at 5 1/2" and creased for the inside pages. Sponge the DSP with the ink used above and bind with jute. Embellishments are the tag, bow, and definition.

Sorry peeps for taking so much time... but this ended up being way longer than I intended. Thank You so much for stopping by... hope you enjoyed your visit!

Birthday Card and Tag

Good afternoon friends! I hope everyone had a happy and safe New Year's. I'm just an 'ole stay at home person for New Year's Eve, but I do enjoy myself.

I'm getting a jump start on birthday cards for family and friends. This card is inspired from the Fun Fold  Challenge over at ScrapZee.
 And here's the inside:
The directions for this fun fold can be found in a tutorial over at Operation Write Home here.

Also over at ScrapZee in an open ended Tag swap here. So that inpired this tag.

It was enjoyable working with something other than Christmas colors. Another plus is the card and tag went together very quickly.

Cardstock: Bermuda Blue and white by Bazzill
Designer Paper: Every day Moments collection by Teresa Collins
Punches: 1 1/2" and 2" scallop circle punches by Fiskars
Ribbon: May Arts
Bling: Baby Blue Liquid Pearls by Ranger

Thank You so much for stopping by, hope you enjoyed your visit!

Top Ten Cards of 2012

Happy New Year again peeps! Today, to begin the New Year, Operation Write Home is show their Top Ten from 2012 such as Milestones, MWT's, Sketches, and Tutorials. You really need to go the their blog and check out all the fabulous-ness yourself. Click here and enjoy!

On OWH's blog is the InLinkz for us to link up our Top Ten cards we've made for our heroes to send home in 2012. Since I've only been blogging a little over a year, I don't have many cards to choose from. I should, but sadly, I don't. The following is my favorites from this past year. I have to admit I cheated on the first two. I'm justifying this by saying they were made for January 2012 shipment. Hmmm... will that work?

Happy New Year 2013!!

Good morning friends! My wish for all of you, as we start this new year, is to have peace, love, health, and happiness in your life. We don't know what this year has in store for us. The best we can do is cherish each day that's given to us, and make each day count.

Sunday was the new Sketch Challenge 153 over at Operation Write Home. Be sure to pop over to OWH's blog, Stars & Stamps, and have a look see.

I chose to flip the sketch this week, and make a New Year's card for all of you.

Well, I have egg on my face already peeps. I've only had the clock DSP for a couple of weeks, but I can't for the life of me remember who makes it. The New Year's subway art is a free digi from Paulette over at Create with TLC. Make sure you look around over at Paulette's. The link is for the post with this freebie... but she always has fantastic ones to offer. The sheer, blue ribbon, is from May Arts.

Here's the sketch if you'd like to give it a try.

This is the last week, after 2 yrs, that Julie will be presenting the weekly sketches. Julie, like everyone, would like to persue some other interests but she will still be participating in OWH. This also means that next Sunday I will move into her spot as the weekly Sketch Wrangler. Julie, you've left some big shoes for me to fill. Thank You from the bottom of my heart for doing such a fantastic job with the sketches.

It won't be long before I put my sauerkraut and pork on the cook for dinner. That's our family tradition... to have this meal on New Year's Day instead of New Year's Eve. So I'll say goodbye for now. Thank You so much for stopping by, hope you enjoyed your visit!
